Someone’s Gotta Pay for the Cuomo Transpo Plan, And It Won’t Be Motorists
Andrew Cuomo ran down his list of big transportation projects in the State of the State Address yesterday, and despite the billions it will take to build everything on his agenda, the governor didn't say anything about how he'll raise the money to pay for it. He did work in a line about toll cuts for Thruway drivers, though.

Cuomo’s “Ambitious” Transport Program: a Hodgepodge of Pandering
Try to picture this: Governor Cuomo, announcing a big MTA funding commitment, promises subway and bus fares won't rise for four years. And in fact, people who buy monthly MetroCards will get a de facto fare cut via tax credits. Infrastructure upgrades and lower fares -- sweet deal.

Don’t Believe Team Cuomo’s Spin on the MTA “Lockbox”

Cuomo’s Brazen Politicization of the MTA
On Friday, MTA Chair Tom Prendergast used the occasion of a G train derailment to badger Bill de Blasio about upping the city's contribution to the MTA capital program. His statement resembled the reaction from the TWU, beneficiaries of generous contract terms bestowed by Governor Andrew Cuomo last year. Prendergast delivered the same message on Sunday at the opening of the 7 train station on the far West Side.

The Politics of Road Pricing: Andrew Cuomo vs. Actual Polls
Andrew Cuomo styles himself as a guy who gets stuff done. That's what muscling through the Tappan Zee Bridge double-span boondoggle and the multi-billion dollar LaGuardia renovation is all about. But when reporters ask Cuomo about funding transit by putting a price on NYC's free bridges, he likes to portray himself as a helpless bystander, stymied by politics.

If Crowded Old Airports Are “Un-New York,” What Are Crowded Old Trains?
Andrew Cuomo's big infrastructure announcement with VP Joe Biden today was, if nothing else, a tidy encapsulation of how little the governor cares about the big problems facing New York's transportation systems.
