Crash victims are set to lose big after insurance negotiations went mostly in the governor’s favor. Sure, lawmakers can try and argue to constituents that they saved them a buck or two and even gave curbing the insurance industry’s excess the old college try, but as we’ve reported, the changes to insurance law proposed by the governor are a disaster for crash victims.
Budget negotiations are moving on to other topics, like stopping recidivist reckless drivers from speeding all over New York City. The governor and state Senate are on board with a plan to install speed-limiting devices in the cars of these problem drivers, but the Assembly has a lot of questions.
There are just four weeks left in the state legislative session, and a whole spending plan to sort out. God help us.
